District Fair

Probably the event that has brought more people together in Southeast Missouri, extending over the longest period is the SEMO District Fair. This year marks the 170th celebration of the "Old Cape Fair". The fair has served as a great diversion for the people of the area that planned and saved money to attend over generations.

Ozark Ham & Turkey Festival 36th

The 36th Ozark Ham & Turkey Festival will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2026 in California, Mo. The festival is named after the towns leading industries, nationally known Burgers' Smokehouse (country ham processor) and worldwide meat supplier, Cargill (turkey processing plant). The vendor avenue is on N. High Street, the historic part of our beautiful town. California is located 25 miles from Jefferson City, Mo. on Hwy 50 (east and west) and Hwy 87 (north and south). Festival profits go toward improving the community, supporting our youth, and making California a great place to work and to live.

Apple Butter Makin' Days 60th

The annual Apple Butter Makin' Days fall festival is a staple event in the mid-west. This is a great way to showcase handmade crafts to a large, diverse audience. Mt. Vernon is situated on I-44 between Joplin and Springfield, but crowds arrive from all across the country to sample delicious apple butter prepared on the historic square and shop more than 450 craft spaces for their annual favorites and new ideas alike. With live entertainment, a KidZone, contests and a parade, this festival has been voted Best Of Rural Missouri and Best Festival in Best of SWMO!
