Millfest

Each spring, the museum hosts Millfest – a family event celebrating the history of the mill and the pioneer heritage of the region. Millfest is held the first weekend in May and features guided tours of the mill in operation. Professional millers run the mill (without grain) and tours are available for visitors age 13 and older. Other activities include a traditional arts fair, including a quilt show, live musical entertainment, and great food.

Chisholm Trail Festival

A fresh take on the Old West as Caldwell celebrates her Border Queen history on the legendary Chisholm Trail that became our Main Street and US Hwy 81. 2024 is the 30th year of the Fest! We'll hoot & hollar with gunfights & dance hall girls, a cattle drive on Main, launch a new music fest, plus 2 cool new additions to the Border Queen Museum! With plenty of action for all ages including self-guided tours year-round, Caldwell has a unique history to explore at our Trails, Rails, and Scales Visitor Center, the downtown historical sign walking tour, or at the Border Queen Museum. Get into History, get into Caldwell!

Spring Chick Event

Chick Events has been around since 2014 and has also hosted nearly over 20 events! These days, you can find us popping up in the parking lot at Town Center Plaza during the spring and fall. Each of our tented, outdoor shopping events hosts 100-150 vendors and can have up to 6,000 guests! All vendor booths are tented and you can find Food Trucks and a Kids Area at each event. Vendors include handmade and local KC boutiques and mobile shops! We invite the entire family to come out to these events since there is fun to be had for all! We are dog-friendly and stroller-friendly, though it can get a bit crowded inside booths.

Spring Arts & Crafts Fest

This is a smaller show where we are focused on showing a variety of handmade and handcrafted products from different categories! Shop for mothers day, new home decor, jewelry, and so much more. We look forward to seeing you there!

Katy Days Festival 26th

Our craft display is refered to as "Heritage Crafts" and is a demonstration event where participants must demonstrate an early day skill. I really think it is not the type of craft you are promoting in your publication. I would rather not get phone calls from people doing the typical "crafts" type of thing and then have to tell them no to our event. I recently attended a craft show featuring 500 crafters and only one fit in with what we are doing.

Santa Fe Trail Days 35th

This annual community event features: inflatables, live music, beer garden, hamburger/hot dog feed, concession and craft vendors, car show, outside movie, ice cream social, community talent show, Frisbee Golf tournament , PCRA night rodeo, and much more! Craft Show 9 am- 4 PM Saturday either downtown or at Haas Building. Rodeo welcomes food vendors. Fort Larned National Historic Site has their largest weekend of living history for the year!

One of Hutchinson's largest craft shows with 200 booths inside and unlimited outside. Very popular, very well attended, very well advertised (55 double-sided street signs, 3 large banners, over 150 posters, 2 large digital signs, etc.) Always free admission. Breakfast & lunch available as well as many booths with other food items. Limited number of DSR's or any line that fills fast. Show typically fills very fast. Email us to get on email application list. No early entries. On Kansas State Fairgrounds - easy access, handicap accessible, & lots of free doorside parking.

The Mulvane Art Fair is a juried art fair that features 80+ artists using a variety of media from across the state, region and country. We are proud to announce that last year's art fair featured artists from 14 different states – Colorado, Missouri, New Mexico, Nebraska, Alabama, Texas, Oklahoma, California, Kansas, Minnesota, Arizona, Pennsylvania, Iowa, and North Carolina. The event also features live music, beer garden, and exciting food options. Proceeds from the Mulvane Art Fair support the programs and mission of the Mulvane Art Museum.

Smoky Hill River Festival 50th

The festival features both a Fine Art Show and the Four Rivers Craft Show. Now in its 50th year, the River Festival spans three-and-a-half days in early June. The Festival is best known nationally for its excellent art and cultural programming, its relaxed, family-friend atmosphere, and the organic way in which many vibrant art installations and other key elements mingle, to challenge returning and new visitors in surprising and delightful ways. Featuring a rainbow of artistic offerings for the senses, the River Festival offers a veritable symphony of fine art and crafts, children's activities, Festival food, and more. Four stages of top-notch musical and roving entertainment round out the menu for this 'create your own' event that officially kicks off the summer season for thousands of residents and out-of-town guests.
